Father – Never gone (Poem)

Was asked to write this for a young lady who lost her father recently.

Our memories are golden
Cast on sunset sky
You left our lives too early
I’ll always wonder why

I’m proud to be your daughter
Even though you’re gone
Strength flows within me
Life will carry on

I wish I could say goodbye
Too see you one more time
Forever you will be to me
My father in his prime

I’m proud to be your daughter
I’ll live my life through you
Wishing I could hold your hand
You always made life true

It’s not the way you left us
But how you lived when here
Your name will live forever
A candle burns each year

For you are my father
I’ll shout your name aloud
My heart, my rock, my hero
I’ll always make you proud
